IIRC dennis weaver had used them in his duster and was very happy with them... just my 2 cents.

edit questions

brennan, how far are you taking the static CR on that engine? the head seems overworked but then again you're going past 250 CI, I think it woulkd be nice. Did you check out mpgmike splitting flow trick at that post? that sounded like a good idea to redirect the flow to the sidewalls of the ports avoinding the middle section where the valve stem protrudes and invades the port. Valve sizing? custom or "on the shelf"? Combustion chambers looks a little "deep" for me, but then again I don't have all our numbers and calculations. Care to share some of them numbers?

another edit:increased oil consumption on engines using gapless ductile iron rings might be due to transmission... sometimes an auto trans tends to "drink more oil" since the engine is revving all the time and you don't have to put your foot off the gas permitting oil to come up and provide enough lubrication to top rings... that might be an issue

CR is a max of 10:1 but will likely be set around 9.7:1. Well will be running only 93 octane. I forget the cam specs but it is a Howard custom grind at 520 lift. Cubes are going to be 258. Valves are 1.86/1.5 - 11/32 stem. Intake is the 4 barrel Offy and we plan to use the Holley Truck Avenger 470CFM carb which has vacuum secondaries. It will be getting ARP bolt and studs throughout. Future plans may include nitrous but not for some time. The forged pistons have a very thick top for a nitrous or supercharger beating. We are part Hard Blocking the box. We plan to turn it to 6200 rpm. Exhaust will be dutra front and cut rear manifold. Engine dyno will be used and info posted. Keep in mind some things were chosen as a compermize. Headers were avoided do to heat and leaks. 600 cfm carb would likely give higher peek HP but this car will be driven on the street. Roller rockers- benefit vs cost.

More pic of Eileen
CR is now set to 10.4
Deck height .007 in hole (took about .030 to get there)
head is 65cc and .006 off it to clean it up.
ARP rod bolts are stretched .006 which is about 70-75 ftlbs
ARP mains 100 ftlbs

The picture with the pistons installed has the pistons in the wrong cylinders. This has been corrected.

Silly question Here, But why do you retain the Pins on top of the block to locate the head?

If you have arp studs, do you even need the pins to be there?

Greg
Yep, even with studs the head will still walk.

In an ideal world, threaded fasteners only provide clamping force. Dowels or bosses do the locating.

Oh well, When I have my motor apart I will but my dowels back in..

I took them out due to the girth of the arp Head studs.

It appeared to be located fine to me.

Live and learn.
