I have recently upgraded to super six from a Weber setup. On the weber I had had modified the stock 1bbl kickdown linkages to work with the Weber. With the Carter BBD I ordered the super six kick down linkages off ebay, it came with all the rods and brackets and the adjusting bolt.nut and spring on the tranny end of the rod. Having difficulties getting it adjusted correctly, and discovered through searching this site that I did not receive the actual throttle lever for the transmission, and that they are different lengths from 1bbl to 2bbl, it must be a 2-3" inch part with a 1/2" difference. IS there any way to order this part, or do I have to go junkyard diving? Is this lever the same size on the v8's or is it specific to super sixes? If it is specific, it will be a nightmare trying to find the right lever. Thanks in advance. |

What part are you needing trans kick down linkage?from carb to trans linkage bar.We have 1 if needed, but yes junk yard for this see ya Don |

If you mean the kickdown lever that is on the trans, I don't think you need a special one. Have you adjusted it all the way forward? Thanks in advance. I used the stock one on mine. On my setup, the kickdown rod was about 1/2" too short to get the right pressure. I just EVER SO SLIGHTLY bent each curve in the rod to lengthen it that 1/2", and now it works great. I think that most people who have done the super six setup have done it with their stock kickdown levers. Just make sure you have the adjustment all the way forward on the rod before you start making modifications. |

The shorter lever just means you have less arc (or distance) for the lever to be fully engaged. A very slightly longer rod makes up the difference and will function the same. So you just have to make other arrangements. At first I considered cutting the rod somewhere in the middle, and welding a short peice in to lengthen the rod, but the slight bending solved the problem. It really doesn't take much. |

Thank you very much, I am familiar with bending to make it work. That is similar to how I Made the Weber car work with the 1 bbl kickdown setup. |

After looking at it and thinking about it, bending the rods does not really acomplish much, it just allows you to adjust the kickdown to wide open throttle, but does not solve the problem that with the longer lever you can not do a proper all the way forward at idle , all the way back at WOT. You either never have it all the way back, or you never have it all the way forward. So my fix was to stick a nut and bolt into the slot to make up for the travel distance. I have it all the way bak at WOT, but it never fully goes forward. Shifts appropriately. I would still like to get the right lever someday. Tim |
