Hi everyone,
Im about to buy a 72 valiant as a spare for my dodge dart.
What will I find? If it is disc brakes then what type? And bolt patterns? Will it be SBP or BBP?
Thanks for your help

From the factory, it will have the small bolt pattern for sure, probably drums but it's possible it may have the Kelsey-Hayes discs. And if it was a slant six car, it's a pretty safe bet that it would have a 7 1/4" rear axle.

But after 35 years, it's possible for any of that to have changed.

If the '72 Valiant you're buying is in original condition, it will have the small bolt pattern, whether it has drum brakes (either 229mm or 254mm) or disc brakes (4-piston Kelsey-Hayes items). It will be interesting to learn if your '72 is a US-built or a Swiss-built car.

Wow!!! Good guess Dan!!! It's actually a swiss car so I guess a swiss-built (though i can't say for sure...).
Thanks for your help.

Well, got a few infos tonight. It's actually a '73 swiss-built Dart with disc brakes up front.
So is that necessarily the K-H system & SBP?
Thanks for your help

I can't say for sure that it has the Kelsey-Hayes disc brakes. It could, but they may have substituted a local system instead. Pictures would help.

Will you also please tell us the VIN (vehicle number) of the car?

All right Dan, still didn't get to see the car but I will note carefully the vin plate when I go there.
Thanks
