| Post subject: | AN fuel line question. |
I bought some #6 AN fuel line with the fittings needed to re-rout my fuel line, and I cannot get the outside fitting to go over the end of the tube. I have used this stuff before on this car, and don;t remember having any trouble. What am I forgetting? Should I be lubricating the outside stainless shield? It just seems too big to get into the fitting. As you push on it, the sleave pushes back and expands so that it is even bigger in diameter. Any help would be appreciated. Sam |

are you using the same company's hose and fitting? It is hit or miss mixing brands. There are incompatibilies even among a companies own product lines - i.e., Earl's makes pro race hose and fittings and then another kind that do not interchange. |

If you take a pic of the problem somebody here might be able to help. The kind of fitting should be stamped on the the fitting somewhere |

I've sometimes rolled them in electrical tape to get the shield to stop expanding. But a lot of the problems I first had with AN hose were caused by cheap (Summit brand) fittings. I later used a different brand (Earl's, I think) and they were much easier to attach. |

The fittings and the hose are Airequip. Or a spelling similar to that. When I took them back, they sold me a small vise clamp that holds the fitting head securely to allow you to really muscle the hose into it. He went ahead and installed one end. I think I have a handle on this one now. Now I just need to wait until the weather warms back up which it is supposed to do in a couple of days. Sam |
