| Post subject: | Needing rear defroster wiring help/from a Dart |
Hello, I got a phone call from the local wrecker, and they had a Dart...so when I arrived, they were draing the fluids to send it to the doom(Which really sucks because it was a 71 2 door runner!) But it had the rear defroster in it.I want this for my 67 Barracuda coupe......anyway- I unbolted/ and unplugged everything I could.......but was running out of time when it cam to tracing the green wire to its origins. I had to clip it. It LOOKS like it went to the fuse panal. But I was hoping someone might know for sure.....and provide me w/ a diagram or some help. Thanks in advance...Kidd |

You are right. The green wire does go to the fuse box. The factory shop manual, Hanes manual, or the stand alone wiring manual will show you exactly which one. If your car did not come with this option or A/C then this fuse and the fuse holders may not be there. This is a very simple problem to get around. If you don't have a spare or junk fuse box laying around just hit up your local junk yard and grab the fuse holders that you need. I'm not looking at one right now but I believe that for the battery feed side you need the three fuse holders that are connected together by a bar. On the non-battery feed side you will need to grab one single fuse holder with enough wire to meet with the green wire that you unfortunately had to cut. This way it will be as the factory wired it. I'm pretty sure there are easier ways of doing it, but for me I felt that doing it this way would not stress any of the tired wiring or overload any existing circuits. Hope this helps-Dart68 |

Never rely on Haynes manuals for anything more than being a convenient doorstop, firestarter, or place to set your coffee. Depending on the year and whether the rear defog was installed at the factory or at the dealer, the system was fused through the fusebox or via an inline fuseholder. It will not be difficult to hook this up in your car even if you had to clip the wire. Did you get the switch from the dash? |

Yes, I have everything......small switch, unit, and woring.......just wanted to make sure where the green wire went.....kinda silly for the power lead to be green??? LOL but hey, my notchback Barracuda will have a clear rear when I reasemble it after paint this week. Thanks for the comments.....if anyone has anything else to add....I am open. Kidd |

In my '71 Plymouth factory manual, p8-164 & 5, shows a C10-18LGN wire from the fuse block accessory terminal to the center pin on the switch; C11-18BK (HIGH) running to a 2pin connector from one pin and C12-18W (LOW) from the other pin running to a 2pin "T" connector "TO BODY WIRING". |
