65 valiant is a 100 model, so it didnt come with the backup light bulbs/wiring...yet I see the wiring there ready to go..near the stop light wiring
anyone know what is needed to make both backup lights work?
Is it as simple as hooking up a bulb/housing inside the backup light and connecting to the little connectors?
thanks!

NOS backup light kits turns up on Ebay once and a while. So far I've seen only one Valiant that didn't already have it.

If both wires go to the same point in the one connector, they just made the connection there rather than a splice in the harness.

I seem to remember that the backup light switch moved from the shifter to the trans in '68, but I may be wrong. Anyway, while the later 3 pin switch will screw into the early trans in place of the 1 pin switch, it won't work right unless you change the arm inside the trans (the reverse lights will be on in R &D,2,1). I swapped a later arm in to make it work, but it was somewhat difficult. It would be easy if you already had the trans out for rebuilding.

I would recommend putting a good quality microswitch on the shifter to run the backup light. One of the 6? pins on the body harness connector is probably already connected to the sockets.
