Post subject:  5.9 throttle bodies

Does anyone know if the 5.2 and 5.9 trottle bodies fit the super six intake pattern?

No it won't, but I can hook you up with an adapter plate. Your throttle bores will need opened up in the intake manifold because the 5.9 TB holes are bigger than the super 6 manifold holes.

No actually, my plan was to put the intake on the mill and, using a boring bar, open the throttle holes to the 5.9 TBI size. Then I'd make a 1" aluminum spacer that would bolt to the intake and have the holes drilled and tapped to receive the 5.9 TB. Heck, I could even add a vacuum port or 2 to the spacer if you needed it.

what other sensors would we need to do this or is everything in the throttle body(minus mas). my gas mileage sucks . I cant get better than 14.8 mpg.

TBI's usually need O2 (in the exhaust), MAP (or MAF? I think most TBI's ran with MAP, since it was cheaper), and engine temperature (air temp possibly too). Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) should be on the throttle body. Knock sensor too, although you might be able to snip that wire. Not included is the high pressure fuel pump, which usually lives in the fuel tank (and may need a return line).

What controller? Factory ECU, or ___? I've curious how a TBI would work on Slant, seems to me that if the stock intake wasn't bad with a carb, then a TBI should be a decent upgrade (better mpg and overall running, albeit no real power increase). The problem would be adding all the sensors and the fuel pump.

The late model trucks do not use a return line. A popular mod is to install a pressure regulator and return line but from the factory it's not there.

So I messed up with my wording what I told Mike on the phone is that I wanted to run efi(6 injectors and all) but using a throttle body from a 99 or newer 5.9. So... :o oops.
