Has anyone attempted this with engine in car?? There is an engine mount right below the pump, it looks impossible. One thought that I had similar to changing out an engine mount would be to jack the engine up towards the drivers side, take the mount off, then change out the oil pump? This may just be one of those things that she needs taken to a garage with a lift for. Just looking for advice. |

I just went through that. You have to lift the engine up enough to clear. You will hit the torsion bar mount for the lower control arm. Try as I may, there was no way around it. Short cuts are leave most everything in place, and unbolt the whole radiator so it comes up with the engine and you don't have the coolant mess to deal with. You still have to unbolt the tranny though. Mike |

How about using a frame lift (as opposed to a drive-on) that'll let the suspension relax when you lift the vehicle up? Still a no-go? |

Maybe you have an idea I didn't think about. Give it a try. Mike |

I'll find out when I go to change out my pump (going to do the oil pump mod and press on a hardened gear from Doug), and the shop on base has frame lifts so hopefully it'll work out with minimal finagling.
