I got a new reman motor from pepboys. The head is the older head on it but the block doesn't have any casting numbers on the side of the block like my 70 does..the only numbers on the block is 330 4 thats it..none on the vin pad either..any info would be helpful..the motor was a long block with a 2yr unlimited mile warranty..it runs strong and purrs like a kitten.has any body had any problems with reman motors in the past?..any info???? thanks adam

It's gonna have casting numbers somewhere unless they've been deliberately ground off. As for what to do with your engine that is currently running well, I'm not a religious man, but given the poor track record of "remanufactured" parts, I would say...pray! :shock:

Does it have three core plugs on the exhaust manifold side, or five?

it runs good and i havent had any problems with it so far..got over 500 miles on it..i just wanted to know if anybody had any problems with reman motors in the past.(sounds like it).pepboys has these motors for less than a grand and you keep your core..

nothing has been ground off on the motor..i checked it before i painted it..i check everthing before i put the oil pan and intake on..it looked good

I have at least 1, maybe 2, of the blocks with a 330 x castting #. I don't recall exactly what they came out of. Your '70 Challenger most likely had 2806830 x #.

the challenger has its numbers matching motor..its the new one i cant find any info about it..
