Looking to replace the turn signal switch on my 64. Auto trans & manual steering. Column currently out and has a broken switch as in cracked with no chance of repair IMHO. Anyone know if these are available? Part number? How much? Where might I get one?

Thanks in advance.

I've got new switches. The info in this thread and this thread was written for a '65 and a '66, and applies equally to your '64.

Is that the same one for the '62 Valiant? I bought a repair cam but found that the switch body underneath the cam is cracked so I'll need the whole thing. I'm really looking forward to fishing the wire through the column!

Same switch, but you'll need to replace the terminals on either the ends of the new switch's wires, or on the ends of the wires under the dash. The '64-up cars use flat spade terminals, while the '62-'63 cars use square terminals. As a practical matter, it'll probably be easiest to grab the nylon connector from a '64-up car (way up, at least through '75 will work fine) and change the terminals on the car's wires, rather than on the switch's wires.

Fishing the wires through the column isn't all that horrific a job. You can get a long length of solid copper wire, e.g. household wiring wire, straighten it out, push it up or drop it down through the column (the stiffness helps direct it where you want to go), securely loop the upper end around the new switch's wires (having already taped up the bundle of terminals so they don't fold over and snag inside the column), then just pull the copper wire downward through the bottom slot in the column. It'll drag the switch wires along with it.

I tie a strong piece of string to the old switch's wires and pull my "leader line" up through the column, as I pull-out the old switch. Then use the string to pull the new wires back thru the column.

The string trick would be the easiest probably but I need to repaint the entire column so I'll probably pull the switch then use the stiff wire technique to put the new one in after the paint dries.
