On the shifter in my Duster, the needle in the steering column sits between gear markings when the shifter is sitting in its detent (ie: when in drive, the needle sits between D and N). Is there any way to adjust the shift linkage so that the needle reads dead on? I know it doesn't hurt anything with the way it is now, but it just annoys me.

Yours may be different, but on my 73 Swinger, a few inches from where the shifter linkage goes into the lever on the trans is a bolt for adjusting the linkage lenth.

Take the linkage out of the lever, have somebody hold the shifter in neutral, Loosen the bolt, and adjust the linkage so it drops into the lever hole. Tighten bolt.
