I got some positions made by vanolia for 10:1 when I bought them I was told that they did not make the wrist pins, they made it seam like they where just out ut in fact they did not carry them at all. Why in the Hell would you make some one pistion and sell them to them and not provide pin. The question that I have is where can I get a set of pins, or what are they made from So I can try go have them turned HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

Don't panic just yet. Do you know if these pistons are made for stock type pressed pins, or for floating pins?

We will need to know the recommended diameter and length of the pin. (pin bore in the piston)
Between SL6 and 2.2 engines, there should be no problem finding a pin that will work.

they are press pins, the pin hole dia. is .90002 (stock) the lenght should be stock too 2.759 to 2.95 I think. I am going to go down to the shop this week and mike the length from out side of the pin boss to out side of the boss. Ross pistion told me that I should use a .9005 pin and a lenth of 2.5, chevy pin I think

here is the a spec I mike it today: From out side to out side of pin bosses 2.848 in side to inside 1.148. Pin bore .9000 but here is the other thing the rod is .9001. One other thing I ordered 3.48 pistion and they sent 3.4737, .063 off of what I ordered. Is that common of do I need to B@%#$ them out for.

Couple of things I see here. First the pins float in the piston and press fit in the rods. So the pin dia must be larger then the bore in the rod. Then the hole in the piston must be "fitted" to the pin (larger dia then the pin, by just a couple ten thousands .000x).

Your math of the piston dia difference is off. It is .0063, not .063. This sounds to me like it could be the correct clearance for the pistons, for a 3.48 bore.

The main thing that bothers me, is the fact that Venolia has a "stock eliminator" piston, available as "pinfited". So they should have the pins. Did you request the "pin fitted" option?

Actually the stock pin info, from a 66 FSM:
Pin dia is .9007-.9009
length 2.995-2.976
clearence in piston .00045-.00075, this might be different for the Venolia pistons.
interference in rod .0007-.0012

Thank you. it was a type o . I don't know what you mean by stock elininator" piston or Pinfitted option. When I order these I made it vary clear to them that this was the first time I have had custom pistions made. I asked them a thousond questions to make sure that I was ordering right I even hade the mech. shop fill out the order form for me. last time I stock to Venolia about this, the problem they had was the lenght of the pin. So I guess it was my lack of knowledge that put me in this pickle. So what you are saying is that I need to have the pin hole bored, ok I understand that but what do I do about the lenght? The mech shop told me that I can get away with a 2.75 lenght pin, but I now have lost a little faith in them, is that ok. I have another shop that came up with a solution but they are quoting me about $200. Is there a cheeper correct way or should I just have them do it so I know it done right?
