Question: Did Mopar ever make a /6 with a 727 behind it?

My D-150 came from the factory with a 727 behind the slant. Great transmission when combined with the lockup torque convertor, just slips in reverse. Think I might have a loose band

It might have been standard equipmnet for trucks.

The early packages had an adapter for mounting a small block 727 to a Slant.

The later trucks and vans had a 727 made for Slants. They came in both standard and lockup.

I have not been able to verify that any 727 trannys ever came with a lock-up torque converter. Can anyone verify this?

I think so. Look in 80s pickups and vans behind Smallblocks until the the A-518 superseded the A-727. What is rare is to find a lockup A-727 with a B/RB bolt pattern. IIRC, that was one year only (1978) and one engine only (400). The 440s didn't get lockup.

My 727 definitely has it. You can feel it when the convertor locks up, sorta like it is shifting into a fourth gear.

I have seen 2 lock-up Slant 727's with my own eyes. Easiest way to tell when one is out is to look at the input shaft. A lock-up will have a pilot on the end like a 4 speed input shaft.

My parts collection is soon to include a 727 made for a slant six, and the lockup version. I wanna try it in my 64 d100, but wonder the two basics..

Will that input snout go into the existing bearing I previously slid in the '78 crank when I installed an 833OD or do I need to pull the bearing first?

I want a 2,000 to 2,500 lockup convertor with the new Erson cam. I think. Tom McGibbon recommended it in a call. (3.91 posi, truck weight, 28 inch tires) But I can't fine one! Where to get one?

Thanks,
rock

Try calling Midwest Torque Converter in Rockford, IL. They can probably modify your stock one or build you a new one.
