For the street, you can't beat a Super Six and Dutra Duals.
Far a race engine, use a Clifford intake and their shorty headers.

We will soon see how much difference there is between headers and Dutra Duals. I have a pair of the cast manifolds to put in the Piggie until Harold gets my Cliffords and step tubes to me.

You slapping these on a stock engine or you doing a complete buildup? If it's stock I would STRONGLY recommend the Dutra Duals and a Super Six.

Hey

I run a Offenhauser intake with Dutra Duals with a mild cam and it works great!!

I spent enough time fighting with old Carter 2bbls and am much happier with the Holley 390.

You must have found some lemon Carters, because the Carter BBD is one of the most reliable carbs ever made.

The problem is that many of the ones left have the throttle shaft bushings worn out, leading to a host of issues. Unfortunately, rebuilders don't do the throttle shafts and the rebuilts have the exact same issues.

I ran a BBD on my Duster for a while that I had gotten the throttle shaft done on. It did work very well. :D
