Post subject:  Anyone interested in fabricated aluminum valve covers?

I've been talking with someone at an aftermarket parts company about some other things, and I thought as long as I have his ear, I might ask if they'd consider tooling up for a line of fabricated aluminum valve covers. These valve covers would be laser cut from sheet aluminum, folded, and welded. I'd be sure to explain the importance of good baffles and making it compatible with a closed PCV system. But before bringing this up, I wanted to see if there was any interest in such a thing. So, would anybody here be interested in buying a fabricated aluminum valve cover if it were a good quality piece and sold for $200 or less? Any particular features you'd want on it?

I can't promise I can make this happen, but I wanted to see if anyone was interested, given the shortcomings of many of the aftermarket slant six valve covers.

I did the same with Jeff Johnston Billet fabrications a few years ago. $800 for 1 or $200 for 20 or more. that was 5 years ago. I would pay $200 for one. Make sure to have clearance for roller rockers.

Good question; they'd probably be about the same thickness as the stock stamped steel pan but I hadn't brought that up. I did mention this idea to the company I was talking to, haven't heard back yet. I'll let you know if they do end up making them, if they don't announce it everywhere first.

an oil filler cap would be a nice option. most of the chromed ones I have seen are missing a filler opening.

Slantzilla, can you tell me who the company is? I have googled it and searched this site high and low.

I'd be interested in one depending on the price.

Interesting. I am looking to go away from chrome. ALuminum is better on the heat.

Id it has a cool "/6 powered" or "Mopar Powered" or something might be an interesting option, but even just Aluminum I would do

Has anyone considered a valve cover than has a hinge set-up half way up the height of the cover. Essentially you would have to seal the bottom like you normally do, and were the oil can pool on the bottom, than you would have a "door" top half that you can swing open to adjust the valves. Just throwing ideas out.

I do not remember who it was. The Cox brothers were trying to become a distributor for them though.
