My windshield is trashed (scratched, pitted, rock chips), so I'm moving it up on the priority list. Does anyone know if PPG makes A body windshields? I'd be surprised if they don't, but I was just curious. Also, what's the recommended brand for a windshield gasket? Preferably one without the chrome trim (or channel for the chrome trim, however it's attached). |

Any decent glass shop should be able to fix you up. CR Laurence makes universal self-sealing weatherstrip but it's not a contiuous mold, there will be a seam in it. |

Dakight: I was fairly certain that new 1-piece windshield gaskets can be had for the '67-'76 A-bodies, can't they? I know they can for the '60-'62 and '63-'66 cars, and those are much less popular. Looks like RPM offer the gasket, and on an old NAGS list of mine, the gasket shows as a WCR D691. Is that still a current number? Jopapa: Shop carefully and make sure you are getting a good, reputable brand of glass instead of a Chinese piece of ѕhit. PPG, LOF, Guardian, Safelite, and Pilkington are some good brands. Ask specifically where the glass is made. |

I just got an early A-body PPG windshield, so I know that they are still available. I specifically asked each glass shop, and told them I didn't want any chinese glass. After some grumbling, I found one shop that was willing to work with me. Greg |

There's a shop near me that does great work, and only deals in PPG glass, which is what they also installed on my Toyota, so I'm hoping they can do up my Duster.Jopapa: Shop carefully and make sure you are getting a good, reputable brand of glass instead of a Chinese piece of ѕhit. Here's another question: does the windshield have to be removed to replace the headliner? |

Yeah Dan, I'm sure original style weatherstrips are availalble but he said he didn't want the lock strip type. I don't know when lock strip went the way of the Dodo bird but assuming that his year model used a lock strip then the alternative, as far as I know, is a universal self-sealing type. American made glass should be available. |

My biggest concern is getting a good leak-proof seal, so if I absolutely have to go with a lock strip type gasket, I'll go that route. I just prefer the look of a clean black gasket over having chrome trim, especially with the paint job I have in mind.

I'm not sure, but I believe you can get black lock strip from Oz. |

No lockstrip after '66 on A-bodies; it was hard mouldings. Yeah, they're shiny metal, but if that bothers you overmuch, you can scuff 'em and shoot them with Krylon Semi-Flat (maybe called "satin"?) black spray paint. |

Are they chrome or stainless? |

Mmmmm...don't recall. Could be brite-dip aluminum, but guessing it's stainless. It's not chrome. |

It might be a little spendy, but powder coat might work well and it would be more durable than paint |
