Post subject:  Spool-type mount insert replacement

Tomorrow if I can drag my butt out of bed early enough (day off), I'm going to go ahead and replace the motor mount inserts in my Duster. My old ones are so shot though, that I don't even know how they're oriented. I'm assuming the lip of the insert goes on the front side of the mount bracket, correct? Any particular position (as far as rotation) that they need to be installed into the brackets?

And the million dollar question: how the heck can I get to them best to pull the inserts? I was thinking maybe having the car on a lift and using a transmission jack to support the engine as I replace one side at a time. Has anyone tried it this way before? Suggestions?

I replaced the entire unit recently, however in your case I would do one side at a time and press them in and out one at a time. That way you will know the correct orientation. I really don't think it makes a difference.

Sounds like a plan on the lift, one side at a time. I had the radiator out which made it alot easier to get the bolts in and out.

Well my problem as far as doing them one at a time to make sure I get the orientation right, is that there isn't enough of the old inserts left for me to get a good idea of how to orient the new inserts

Oh yeah I almost forgot, any recommended torque for installing the bolt that goes through the insert, or just gutentite?
