I've heard of fuel injection systems with one or more injectors, I was just wondering what the difference was, why would you only use one or two injectors? Why not all six for the six cylinders? |

It depends on where the fuel is being injected. With throttle body injection ( TBI ) the injectors are mounted in or on the throttle body and the mixture is carried through the manifold in the same way it is with a carburetor. With multipoint fuel injection ( mpfi ) the injectors are placed at or sometimes in the intake port and the throttle body and manifold only regulate air flow. With TBI you wil have one or 2 injectors typically but with MPFI there will be one for each cylinder. |

Throttle body injection, with only one or two injectors, can be a bit easier to install as you only have to make an adapter for the TBI rather than add injectors at each port and make a fuel rail. It still has some of the same fuel distribution issues a carb does, but it has some more tunability than a carb. |
