Post subject:  accessory power on the back of the gauge cluster?

hey guys, i have been fixing the wiring in dads truck(64 a100), a few wires not going anywhere, a million scotchlocks, a pair of wires welded together from rubbing through the insulation, etc, anyway, i was tracing the wire back from the radio and to my horror, it went up behind the gauge cluster, and feeling around it felt like it was a wire to the ammeter, i pulled the cluster and found two rows of four male spade terminals, one had the wire to the radio, with an inline fuse, is that what this is? power sources for aftermarket things? are all of them +? or is one row - ? i ran a wire for the cigarette lighter and am planning on putting it there(with an inline fuse) if thats what it really is...also maybe a cb radio, is there a limit to this? they do have 8 of them...thanks!

I've never seen a stock 60s or 70s Mopar with multiple factory spade connectors for ACC feed on the back of the dash, and don't ever recall seeing a factory inline fuse under the dash, but to be fair I've never worked on a A100.

I have seen a special connection for tach power at the voltage limiter feed and usually the clock is fed right off the (-) ammeter stud. I've also seen factory warnings to not get power from the ammeter stud.

Often creative and scary do-it-yourself wiring taps power any old place and doesn't bother fuses, insulators, or decent connections.

If the harness is a mess, I've found it's *much* easier to take it all out, lay it out flat, and, using the factory manual as a guide, repair it and then put it back in, rather than try to repair it while in place.
