posted this down in the racers forum. thought i'd try again here, since this forum gets all the traffic:

want to build my second ever hopped up slant. i would like to build it to make 1 HP per cubic inch.(Naturally aspirated) how about a recipe from the more experienced out there in slant land? on hand thus far, i have 1.7/1/44 oversized valves, a factory electronic dizzy and that's about it.

i'm probably going with a 10" or 9" convertor behind it, in a 904. 3.55 gears are already installed, and current weight with a SB is 3200 (w/driver). what stall?

in all, 1HP per Cubic Inch should put me into the mid to low 15s range, which is FINE. faster would be even better, but NOT required.

Car Model:
225HP at the crank is pretty easy...I get that acording to a few G-tech runs...(to keep my daily driver mileage I sacrifice about 30 HP in leiu of getting 3 more mpg...)

anyhow most low 15 sec guys are running:

225 forged crank block (this is such a mild build you may be able to get away with a cast crank block)
Bore to what you need/ want (I'm only .020 over)
Deck block and shave head to meet 9.2:1 compression minimum requirement (measure and calculate...)
Use a mild performance cam (MP 244, Comp Cam 252,264...etc...)
Use either a 500 CFM 2 barrel or a small 4 barrel carb (390 Holley)
Dial in EI to meet your needs for the timing curve...

This is just a start...there's more in there, it just depends on whether you are draggin or drivin...
