Hi, I have a 1964 valiant v200 with a post-1971, 225 engine (im not exactly sure what year the engine is, but i know its after 1971). I was looking over statistics for the 225 through the different years and noticed theres a huge drop in performance for the 225's after 1971. I was just wondering where all the power went, and if theres a way to change parts to get my precious power back.

Thanks,

Aaron

The good news is that all you need to do to get the power back is......nothing.

The HP ratings were changed from gross to net .....but really there is no difference between the years.

Gross HP is measured with no accessories hooked up and are corrected for temp etc.

Net HP is measured with things like the water pump hooked up....

The same slant may be 145hp gross,,,and 100 net.

(fastest way to gain 45hp without a hose)

so......where in BC are you?

Thanks a bunch, yeah i was talking to my dad about it and he said they tested the engines without the water pump and other parts attached after 71. But im still a bit worried since its built after the whole emissions thing. BTW Im in kelowna 'sandy in bc'.

Thanks,

Aaron
