When converting to the dual master cylinder upgrade, keeping the original 9" drums on both front and rear, does the distribution block serve any purpose other than splitting the line between the two front brakes? It doesn't do anything like regulate pressure or flow does it? Assuming this is the case, any T fitting would work as long as it could handle the pressure, right?

Correct

A T for the front, and nothing for rear is simplest solution.

Just plug off the port for the rear on the existing block, and extend rear line to master.
