| Post subject: | Holley Carb Problems |
I installed a rebuilt one barrel Holley carb (model 1920)on my 69 Dart. Now the engine stumbles at low RPM acceleration. For instance, when the trans upshifts the engine will stumble until it gains rpm and then it runs like a top. I have also noticed that the overall top speed has diminished. Is there a something that I have over looked that could be out of adjustment on the carb? Should I have made the assumption that things are "properly" adjusted out of the box? On a positive note, I am getting great gas mileage. ldhale@granitecity.com |

Sounds like you could have to small a jet. Try a #60 jet to see how that works. It should get rid of your stumble. Look at your accelerator pump linkage also. The rod should be in the center hole where the rod goes in (on the throttle shaft). Finally, your float could be set to low. Every time I've bought a remanufactured carb I have always had to go through it to see if its done right, sometimes they arn't! Eric W ecwfury@webtv.net |
