Actually, it's on a pad on the top surface of the block near the front. Here's a picture. You may need to clean the area to see the numbers.

If the original motor is in the car, check the VIN on the dash. The fith digit will be B for 198, C for 225. There were also tune up stickers in the engine compartment with the motor size. |

Oy yeah, my bad, that's visible on the BASE of the head, below the alternator, right? sorry, we only had 225 slants, and I was "playing by ear" having read this before right here at the forum.
