| Post subject: | timing tabs |
I'm looking for a slant 6 timing tab (bolton) and can't locate one. Can a tab from a v-8 dodge work? (dealer stock), really need a tab before the super six conversion begins... Anyone? |

this probably should be in the "parts wanted" section, but- my timing tab is spot welded to the timing chain cover (75 duster). I haven't seen a bolt on one before, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. you might scoure a junkyard for just a timing cover. |

Bolt-on tabs were used from '61-'66 (maybe -'67?) and, together with the '61-'66 (-'67?) vibration damper, put the timing marks on the manifold side of the engine. The '60 had timing marks stamped into the timing cover itself, and '67-up (maybe '68-up?) had the timing tab on the distributor side of the engine, which is much more convenient since you don't have to go over to one side to check, then over to the other side to adjust, then back over to the first side to check again... |

already in the wanted section, no slants in my local yards, I figured someone here would part with one, hopefully. |

car-part.com lists a ton of timing covers, but it has no designation for just the tab. maybe when a listing comes up from a yard you can email them if they have a link. |
