Look at the picture and you'll see something unusual about this carb. The primary side has annular booster venturis. A big time carb guru told me these came on medium duty trucks equipped with governors. Regardless I now have a 4160 type Holley with annular primary boosters. I'll likely swap out the float bowls and scrutinize the primary metering block to see how it's different from my Holley 1850. The venturis are the same size as the 1850 Holley 600, but the annular boosters should let this work well on a hot slant.

I have one I had modified with primary and secondary annular boosters, and having all 4 is a nice benefit as you really need a 'HOT' slant to use the full amount of secondaries in that carb, and the carb does seem a bit more crisp than the normal booster carb...

I would love to have one of the old 'Economaster' 4160's that they had put out in limited edition that had the Economaster primary boosters (star type), that'd help the slant a bit for street use...

Good Score!

I know someone that had one of those carbs. If you want I can call and see if he still has it. He won't be needing it on his 402 stroker. i just sold him a 750 AVS off a '69 440HP.

This thing looks like a regular Holley? Or was it a spread bore wierdie looking thing? All silver colored emissions era 450 or so CFM? Something to bolt on to your S.P. 2.P. intake? Late 70's after market carb?

There used to be an old guy in Salem that was 'the' Holley guru, but he closed shop up 8 years back...he had 'one', the only other one I've seen was in a Holley book... I don't have a carb number for it (very few made...not much interest, for a 'big carb' with very restrictive primary venturies...). His was the typical cadmium/gold coloring Holley carbs come in.

They look like a stock Holley 4 barrel, with both metering blocks, but the primary side has the restrictive star type boosters found in the reverse idle screw 2300 - 2 barrel carbs... they were meant for better fuel distribution and mileage as well as 'better' for emissions... with that kind of 'foot print' a 600 cfm carb would act like a 200 cfm wonder in the primaries and then the secondaries would act somewhat like a spread bore...

You probably have a better chance of finding a Holley 3160...

Holley also built 'Economasters' that looked like an old Autolite carb. They flowed about 450 CFM or so.

The 4 bbl Economaster I had didn't look like any other carb. I do have a Holley 4010 and a 4011 and they are very much like an Autolite 4 bbl.

Yep! I think Hotroddave40 from Moparts has one of those. I talked to him tonight on the way home from work. 1 hour on the cell phone and forgot to ask him about that carb.

He was trying to convince me to ride up to the nats with him this weekend.

Both of those models are not good in the long run at all, used ones I've seen have warped bodies, and sealing problems....

Well, they don't make new ones and they have annular boosters which I wanted to try so I bought a 750 CFM vacuum secondary 4010 and a 650 CFM vacuum secondary 4011. The 4010 is slated for a 440 that's going into a '52 Packard. It's a Packard 200, the little 122" wheelbase model. Weighs about what a light to average B-body weighs so it should move out ok. If the main body is warped I guess we can always throw it in the milling machine.
