| Post subject: | Exhaust Flange Gaskets - Need Another Source / Brand ! |
Have gone through two (2) gaskets at the front Dutra exhaust manifold flange over the course of two years ! The first gasket was the typical paper/steel shim style and the latest is the 'Remflex' brand. The Remflex just blew a chunk out the top !! Alignment of the manifold and exhaust head pipe is good. They have been tightened per the FSM. Has anyone else had problems with the front Dutra manifold ? Would the heat be excessive at this shorter manifold ? Regardless, any new style gasket and manufacturer would be appreciated. Thanks 66Dart ![]()

Usually, repeated blowouts at this junction indicate a warped or otherwise problematic flange at the top of the pipe. You may want to check to make sure the shop didn't warp the flange when they built your front headpipe. |

I agree with Dan. Put a straight edge on that sucker and make sure it ain't warped. I had this same problem with the two-bolt flanges on my truck's exhaust when I replaced the cats with straight pipe. Best fix in my case was to just weld the SOBs. |
