Post subject:  High Starter ?

Hey I was just looking on ebay and there are a set of headers that require a high starter location? I have a 73 225 slant six from a dart installed in my 1956 Dodge pick-up does this have the high starter or the low starter on this motor and how can you tell ? Thanks http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Mopar-Ca ... enameZWDVW

Post subject:  Hi Dodge, its pretty easy

Hi DOdge,

It is right easy to tell. High mean the starter bolts to the bell up where the cylinders are on the block and you can remove it easily from up top. Low means it is almost out of sight and you may find it easiest to lay under the vehicle to remove the starter. Dunno about cars but I see you have a truck..me too...so if you have a low mount you will be in the so called "universal" cast iron bell with the big clutch....assuming you are basically stock. If you have another tranny besides the 3 speed column shift you may have another bell....still, low...you get under, high, right up top.

The low starter was also used on the adapter plate that mated a Slant to a small block 727 in trucks, taxi's, and police cars.
