Post subject:  Exhaust flange gaskets

I heard a while ago that some company makes exhaust flange gaskets (and manifold gaskets for GM engines) that will expand when subjected to exhaust heat and will form a perfect seal. Anyone else heard of these? The gaskets I use on the downpipe flange in my Duster (and where I bolted in straight pipes in place of my truck's catalytic converters) never want to seal and leak pretty heavily after no more than a couple weeks.

I know there's reusable copper and aluminum header collector seals........

Don't know about ones for normal manifolds.

I'm not worried about the manifold gaskets (that was just what was being talked about when they came up). All I need is a bunch of 2-bolt flange gaskets. And NO ring gaskets!

Boy that'd be about perfect if it was about 1/8" thick....

I still think you've got a warped flange.

I think so too, but I don't want to spend the money on having a new exhaust system done up until I make up my mind on if I'm going to keep the stock exhaust manifold, go with a set of Dutra Duals, or wait and see if this new header project pans out...

I wouldn't think it would be too much elbow grease involved in resurfacing it by hand. Is the manifold still on the engine?
