The previous crank I had done would not spin at all so the shop said they would use my stock crank and re-do it. Great now it spins. But the store wants to charge me for bearings. I'm certain it was all installed correctly to begin with. I'm wondering how I can prove the machine shop was at fault. I really don't feel like spending money on bearings I already bought! One thing I notice about this is that the bearings are both 10's...Before on the crank the measurements were 10 for the rod and 20 for the mains. Are they supposed to be the same? I'm no machinist. Another thing that irks me is he said he'd give me the bearings at cost...He quotes me around 70$. Isn't that high? Before he said they'd be around 50$. This guy is pissing me off.Is it possible I had a crank that was out of whack? |

: I had a 360 crank that was .010 on mains and
stock on rods from an engine that had never been apart. From what I've read, this was a common practice from factory. |

Take the crank and the bearings to a different machinest / machine shop and have them measure everything. Write down your findings. My guess is that the bearings do not match the journal sizes. The other "long-shots are that the replacement crank is badly "bent" or your block's "main line" has mysteriously gone out of alinement. My bet is that the shop gave you the wrong size bearings or a journal(s) were not ground to the correct size. *Measure everything* DD Quote:
