Holley ProJection = junk. There are much better ways of getting fuel injection. |

The old 2 barrel/4 barrel TBI system wasn't so great, the new software the Commander 950 uses the drive the new system has had some good and bad things about it (mostly bad news from guys who don't like all the 'extra' software options)...If going EFI on a slant MPEFI would be a better bang for the buck (and actually one of the Slant sixers here in town has used the Holley Commander 950 system on a few of his builds -slant and non slant). I will be using that system on the EFI HPak, it was very easy to 'rough out' a spark map based on any of the old distributor maps provided in the service manuals. Save the money and do some research, Holley I think will let you download the 950 manual for free off their site, so you can look over their instruction manual... -D.Idiot |

There's a couple of different Holley systems. I'd also recommend MPFI over a throttle body setup if you can swing it, although the low price and ease of installation on a TBI are understandable. Here's my thoughts on the two different Holley systems: Pro-Jection: An alpha-N (goes by RPM and throttle angle alone) system that has a somewhat generic Chevy based map. The only adjustment you can make is with five screwdriver knobs - and I've heard people complain that's not enough adjustment to make adjustments to get it to run right on other V8s, let alone a slant six. And there's no way you could make it work on a turbo engine. Commander 950: A speed density (RPM and MAP sensor with some additional information from the throttle position) system. It's got a decent level of tuneability. It's pretty basic but this can be an advantage or a disadvantage depending on your needs. |
