Has anyone used one of the home electroplating kits? Eastwood sells one for a decent price, and I've considered ordering one when I have enough money again to really start in on the heavy work for the car.

The eastwood kit works. Nice way to finish small, original hardware. It is slow but works much faster if you use something like a 1 amp battery charger instead of the battery pack it comes with.

Any difference in the quality of the coating when putting more current through it? I assume you're talking something along the lines of a trickle charger for car batteries?

It really seemed the same to me. You just have to keep an eye on it and pull it out and check it every couple of minutes until you get an idea of what your parts will take. The temp affects it as well, and it could be a problem if you leave it in too long. Yes I meant a 12 volt, 1 amp charger.

Quality seems to have more to do with the part being prepped right, totally clean.
