What is the best valve cover gasket to use with the stock stamped steel valve cover, my car is a '72 Plymouth Valiant w/225...thanks, Nico

personally I like the rubber, some swear by the cork, some swear by the rubber. I don't think it makes that much of a difference. But I only use fel-pro or mopar gaskets & I like the rubber for the purpose of reusing it for when adjusting valves

Biggest thing whether you choose cork or rubber is to not tighten it too tight. Too tight will cut the gasket and make a leak.

I use whatever happens to be on the rack when I look.

Just as important as the gasket are the fasteners. I have found that many 80s slants came with special triangular VC hold downs integral with the bolt. These fit the earlier covers really well and help spread out the clamping force. The v-8 ones that you can buy in the parts store don't fit properly. So next time you're in the yard go look for 'em in a slant van or truck. I have had stellar results!
