I'm pretty confident B body drum spindles will work for you. A '70 Coronet uses the same upper and lower ball joints as a '75 Dart. Same control arm bushings too.

The 1/2 ton pickup and van stuff is like the late C-body stuff.

If I read between the lines correctly you need a big bolt pattern hub that will fit your disc brake spindle?

Why no just cut the hub from a factory rotor?

This is the late A body disc spindle correct?

Well, I'd find some factory USA or Canadian rotors from a wrecker and cut the rotors off. New cheap rotors from China I would most certainly stay away from.

The Canadian ones look like they were never used.....

Do you mean A body brake rotors were never made in Canada or you just use the odd moose or snow bank to stop the car?

Looking for a set of big bolt pattern front drums for an A-Body. Condition of the drums is not important, hubs need to be usable. Anyone?

These probably don't exist, do they. I was thinking that after '73 drum brake cars had the big bolt pattern, my focus has always been on disks, so I didn't pay much attention. How about a set of front brake drums w/ hubs from a 71-73 B100 Van? Anybody parting one of those?

The outer is the same (BR2), but the inner is a BR5 (stock is BR17). ID is 1.375 on the BR5 and 1.3775 on the BR17. I plan to buy a cheap BR5 and see if it will slip over the stub on the spindle and see if it will work. If so, I need to see what the length is on the van hub, if that works then it should be a go. If not, I guess I will have to have a late A-Body drum brake hub redrilled to the 4.5" bolt circle. BTW, the 71-73 van stuff is van only. I don't think the trucks got drums after '70. Most cars seemed to have gone to standard front disks about '73. This is a shot in the dark, but thought I would try.

Thought about that, wasn't sure how a machinist would react to the request. Even crossed my mind to use a gusseted rotor, so the hub would be that much more rigid. Ever done anything like that, or know anybody that has? Got a set that is chewed up? Quote: This is the late A body disc spindle correct? Correct. Got a report that the van hub is about 4 1/4" long, but need to compare that to a stock rotor.

Just tell the machinist you need the hubs for your race car's new brake system. Dick Ross of Firm Feel has cut rotors off hubs. I don't think he's raced them though. I would have no qualms myself about using the factory hubs this way. Better than trying to make bearings fit another hub and hope they stay in place if you ask me.

I just figured he meant that Canadians are never off the gas enough to use the brakes. You've got a good point about the moose, though.

Well, got my rodors. Even got a set with the gussets and "Canada" cast into them. I think they are mis-marked though, 'cuz they are used.
