man i feel like a total dumb a** for asking this question, it's been 6 years since i oil changed a slant 225.

its 5 quarts of oil right?

According to my factory service manual 4 quarts but I'm assuming your replacing the filter so it says add 1 quart for that.

easiest way to remember it's 5 quarts is that every motor other then a hemi is 5 quarts of oil. 170, 198, 225, 273, 318, 340, 360, 361, 383, 400, 440 is all 5 quarts of oil

Even with a big filter mine only took 4 1/2 quarts. Infact I only put 4 quarts in and the oil is in the middle of the marks. It could take another 1/2 quart to put it exactly on the full mark but I left it as it was.

Was that before, or after the engine was ran?

FYI My 360 in my van takes 6 1/2 qts. stock. What is scary? The factory endine with 97K on it had some much crud in it 5 said full on the stick
