Will a 318 air cleaner fit under the hood of an Abody slant? It doesn't have the dent for the A/C compressor. The one I was looking at was on a 76 Maxivan. I got the carb and headers

Depends on which air cleaner and which A-body. I ran a '66-'67 318 air cleaner on the 225 2bbl in my '65 D'Valiant for a few years. It fit fine. No chance it'd clear the hood on my '62, though.

It does on my 68 cuda with a 1 1/2 inch spacer and a holley 4150 on a 4bbl intake

It is a factory drop base BBD air cleaner.
