Ok-I rebuilt the /6 version of the BBD carb that I had and it runs ok, but has no vacuum at the distributor port. I ran this carb for several years until I put the rebuilt head on last year and I know it had vacuum at that port. In following the directions from within the BBD manual, it says that the slant 6 version of the carb uses the base gasket w/o the cutouts on the side (only the 318 version uses that base gasket). This is the only change that I made in the parts used when rebuilding this today. I've had been using the thicker base gasket w the cutouts on the sides. This is on a '78 D100 w/o the EGR system-which gasket should I be using? (thick or thin and w or w/o cutout) |

get the vacuum gauge on the no-vacuum port and rev the engine slowly, you will see a peak at certain throttle position and falls off as throttle opens more wider, that's the one you want for the distributor vacuum. Don't mistake this for EGR port. Cheers, Wizard |

Thick, with cutouts. Also, the gasket between the throttle body and main body needs to have all the correct cutouts and holes. The EGR hose nipple has a necked-down end; the distributor vacuum nipple is just a regular normal little metal pipe. |
