marine HEI module different than regular?

Post subject:  marine HEI module different than regular?
I bought a Delco D1906 HEI module, but when it arrived, it looks totally different than a usual HEI module that you see. Here is a picture of a module that's like the one I got.

After searching around, it turns out that this is the Marine HEI module. Will it work the same? If so, does anyone know which pins I use?

Looks like this module has five, seven, or even more pins. You want the 4-pin module to do the HEI conversion.

The 7/8 pin modules are used for computer controlled timing. They have tach output pin and an input it takes from the ignition computer to drive the spark. I'm not sure if you can somehow tie the two together to get the module to trigger itself. Check this link for more info. Also the megasquirt n'spark pages.

Thanks! There was a picture on that site that shows me exactly which wire does what. Turns out this one has a pin for a ground wire, so you don't have to ground the chassis to something as the ground.. cool!

Yes, but again those were meant for computer controlled ignition. If you leave the wires going to the computer out, you probably won't have any spark.

These can spark when disconnected from the computer - it's not their intended use, but they do this when cranking for more precise timing and also act this way as a kind of failsafe.
