I have a 1973 Scamp w/225. I have been reading about the extended tip spark plugs, and bought a set today. Somewhere I saw something about not using the crush washers? Thought I would ask before I did it wrong.

Correct -- remove the metal ring washers before you install the spark plugs. The ring washers are not used on '63-'74 slant-6 heads.

OK. Thanks much. Shoved the timing up to 10 degrees BTDC this morning and cannot believe how much better it runs now. The idle is absolutely amazing! It seems to run so much freer now. I remember back in the old days we used to time engines a few degrees ahead of where the factory recommended. I guess we had good reason!
