| Post subject: | aftermarket 4 bbl manifolds |
I was wondering if anybody had done any real comparisons of the 4 bbl intakes...Clifford/Offenhauser/Weiand...and had any advantage/disadvantage info...flow and/or velocity numbers/required dams-bridges/reversion problems/required modifications, etc? Thanks... |

I don't think anyone has done a full on flow comparison, it just amounts down to availbilty and customer service. Clifford has been such a pain to deal with, I ordered a cam and had one custom ground two weeks later., clifford hadn't shipped mine yet so i canceled the order. The offy seems to be the more common and a good overall manifold. Also, keep your eye out for someone re-creating the hyperpak again |

I know someone who has done extensive flow testing on an Offy, Cliffords (there are more than one generation) and a Hyper Pak. I won't give away his results, but I will tell you taht one is better than people think, one is as good as people think, and one is more hype than performance. I did back to back testing between and Offy and a Clifford (last generation) on my red car. The Clifford is by far a better intake for a serious high performance Slant, and an Offy is a much better street intake. The Offy makes noticeably more low end torque, but the Clifford is way better above 4000 RPM. |

Thanks folks. I know about the different generations of the Clifford and from the Mopar article on the MEW slant, the newer Clifford has the cast-in boss for potential NOS/EFI taps. I'd really like to see more on that myself, albeit a rather expensive set-up with the FAST components, there seems to be much more untapped potential. None-the-less, I'd like to see some documented info, flow bench/dyno/track testing back-to-back comparing any of these 4 bbl intake manifolds. The Weiand unit seems to be a rare bird and not much of any information other than 'here it is on my car so it must work!'. Anybody have any info on this one, comparatively or ???? THANKS... |

As far as I have ever been able to find out, a Weiand is pretty close to being a copy of an Offy. |

I was mistaken, I would most likely follow what slantzilla had to say except I think he might be a little biased against the hpak. Is their design diffrences in the manifolds? Or is it mostly casting quality? What sparked the idea too, are you looking for a manifold? On a side note, efi doesn't have to be expansive for bought from F.A.S.T. I simply cut open a $10 on barrell manifold, put on a gm TBI unit, and worked over the gas tank. I believe I'm about 750 deep into the entire project, which is only 200 higher than what I estimated to do a 4 barrell switch. |
