Ok I'm looking for some slant 6 engines. and I found one that I can get for free from a 68 dodge truck now I'm wondering if this is the same as the ones in the cars? |

Hey and welcome. Changes were incorporated 68 and onwards as far as the crank is concerned at the rear on all slants. Truck slants as far as I understand, has shot peened cranks, double steel cam roller gear and chain setup, and some even had thicker cylinder walls - here in RSA anyways - our blocks were cast locally. More heavy duty |

If it's original it might have a shot peened crank... (so far I've taken apart a few truck motors from the 60's and one 70's industrial engine and no shot peened crank was installed...)The one thing I do know is truck mills sometimes had lower compression ratios than their car counterparts (bigger combustion chambers)... If just looking for a block to work over, stick to 1968-1976 for a forged crank and the bigger crank pocket. Happy Hunting... -D.Idiot |

Interesting. Never seen any evidence of same. There were LC pistons primarily for export markets with low-quality gasoline, but year upon year there was only one cylinder head p/n and none of the truck engine specs in the Weertman material refer to extra-large combustion chambers. What year truck engines have you seen this on, and did you take note of head p/ns?
