Post subject:  Shaving Head--Want to Be Certain

Hey All,

I've got a '71 slant that's propane-powered, so I want to get the compression ratio up to 10.5:1. The head can be shaved to .1", correct? I'm running an Erson RV-type cam along with it.

Any suggestions appreciated,

Joe

Yep you can take that off a head (and more sometimes)... just make sure to check how far down the pistons are in the bore, and figure out which head gasket you are using, then run the numbers through a compression calculator to see what your combustion chamber size needs to be...before you cut..you may not need to take the whole .1 off...or you may need to take more off...
