I am trying to locate a 122 tooth SFI Flywheel. Does anyone know if this is made by anyone or can be custom made? Any options? It is for a Road Race application. Thanks, Jamie |

The last one I got was a McLeod.It is for a Road Race application. Thanks, Jamie This is the same as the early 273 V8 with the exception of one off-set bolt hole... you may want to include that application in your discussions with suppliers. If you are ordering one they will drill it correctly for the slant 6. No need to oval out the hole. Be sure to specify which crank hub size you want. Mine was sent wrong. Rick |

Well, Just spoke to McLeod. that was a waste of time. "They don't have anything like that anymore." I guess I will have to have one made. It won't be SFI, but I will get it made out of steel instead of cast iron. I am going to need a doner ring gear though. Anyone got any? Thanks, Jamie |

Well that stinks. I have been looking too, but figured I was going to have to order one from McLoed in the end. Now I have no options. Do they just not make the sl6 flywheel anymore, or the 273 flywheel as well? |

Some people on this board just ordered McLeod flywheels (steel) maybe a year ago. I was planning on ordering one. Yes, the hole is the only difference as long as you make sure the center ring is correct for your crank. A few years ago they were making 122-tooth ring gears and were commonly available. Those are gone too? I guess that's another thing for me to start hoarding...  Lou |

273 flywheel the same as a slant? Then so would any other smallblock (except a 360, of course) While I know that this is a /6 site, maybe a few of you guys interested could contact them, this may act as a little arm twisting to get what you want made. If they get more than 1 call, theyll see that there is enuf interest to justify them making a batch? A few of us are working on the same sort of thing over on the mopower style board regarding a Shaker hood scoop that was made for smaller-than-E body hoods that the guy says "wasnt viable", but now says that he'd make me one up. |

The 122 tooth 273 flywheel is the same as a slant except for the offset bolt hole. The 122 tooth flywheel is smaller than the common 130 tooth small block flywheel and uses a smaller clutch. |

Good Luck with Mcleod. We are a W-D for Mcleod. B&M now owns them. I am not saying anything bad about B&M, but they did go through the catalog and disco a TON of the one off stuff like this flywheel. McLeod used to have an open ear about making stuff custom, but that appears to have changed now since B&M is in charge. I guess thats just the way it goes. I will just make one from a solid bar of steel I guess.

Jamie, Call 10,000 RPM racing before you try and make one. I called 'em and they'll make one, but it's not going to be cheap. About $750 for one. I asked about a quantity and the guy said to call back next week when Ron is back from the PRI show. |

If you are that serious, you may consider contacting Cameron Tilley in Australia. He had a lightweight setup made to mount a quartermaster clutch for his Slant 6 road racer, and was ebaying a duplicate a while back. I saw it in person and it is a work of art. Around 16-20 lbs with clutch unit - that is everything to replace clutch disc, PP, flywheel. http://tilleyracing.com.au/product-engine.php Lou |

Why not just adapt a small block bellhousing and then you could use the 130 tooth flywheel. Opens up a lot more options including aluminum SFI flywheels and 10 1/2" clutches. |
