1. My son has acquired a 1962 Valiant 4-door, which he plans to use for a commuter (before anyone gets excited, the floor and the bottom of the dash were completely rusted out, so this is not collector's stock). Problem: it's got a shot rear axle bearing, and the 1962's used a peculiar and now discontinued bearing (bearing part #GRW206CCR). Anyone know where he could get one at less-than-unobtainium prices? Do the rear axles from the 1963 or later Valiants interchange into the 1962? He may be able to score a '63 parts car for free. 2. Also, anyone know where to find a gas cap for a '62? They're also apparently an odd size (1-1/4"?), no longer listed by our local parts houses. arbuch@sonic.net |

The entire rear axle assembly will indeed swap in. If the '63 has a different ratio, which it may, the speedometer will be off; he'd want to swap the speedo drive pinion as well. : : 2.
