take a broken stud out that holds the manifold on a 225 or do i not need every single one curious.. thanks Dave |

If there is any of it above the face of the head you can try welding a nut to it and twisting it out. If not, drill it out and retap the hole. |

yes there is a stud tool but you need enough of the shank above the head surface for the teeth on the tool to bite. i like the nut /weld job, the heating and cooling helps break the stud loose |

If the stud is hot enough and you apply a bit of wax around the base it can suck the wax/paraffin into the threads (like soldering copper pipe) and loosen things up (had to do this trick a few times on the rear oil galley plug...)-D.Idiot |

I just did that last Saturday. Broke a tap off in the head, at the last exhaust bolt location, even worse than breaking a stud, easy outs are nice but a broken tap? ....... I finally got it out plus a heli-coil that I didn't know was in there. Used Lots of Kriol and was able to work it out with a punch and a ground down and slotted four pronged socket that I made. That stud would never keep leaking no matter what lock-tite compound I used. It is now JB welded in with a new heli-coil. The head is only about 3/8" thick at that location. |

alright guys im going to put a bigger nut on there and plug weld it horizontal solid wire mig 35mm wire short circuit 18.0 volts 4 wire speed. cuz im good like that illl let you guys know how that goes luckily im becoming a certified welder |
