Post subject:  New cooling system still overheats...

I have a new two core radiator, water pump, 160 thermostat and it still overheats. Hoses are good. The only hoses I havent changed are the heater hoses. I'm wondering if the 2 core is a wimpy radiator. Would a seven blade fan improve cooling significantly? Timing is about 10 degrees. What about backing off to like 5? Wouldn't I lose all power?

How do you know it's over heating? What kind of car, year? More information would be helpful.

how do you know its overheating?? one thing ive learned from expierience is NEVER trust the gauge.

get a thermometer and bang it in the top of the radiator. providing that your thermostat is opening up this will show you whats going on (for sure)

im one of those idiots that spent alot of time, and even more money, searching for an overheating problem that wasnt even there! i replaced EVERYTHING except the block (i shoulda coz thats what went next)

turned out to be a crook temp sender!

now with my new engine im going through the same thing.. ive put a thermostat on it and thats it.. next thing will be the gauge!

oh btw theres no chance you put the thermostat in backwards is there?

This is what I was getting at. How do you know it's overheating? I've run in to some of these Chrysler Corp vehicles that the "overheating" problem turned out to be a burnt out voltage regulator that runs the gauges. Replaced the regulater and all was well.
