I've read an answer to someone's question you posted. Drilling a larger hole in early lower control arms to accept the later, larger lower balljoints from 73-76 disc brake cars. Were there any complications in doing this? Did this prove to be a reliable modification? As far as the upper arms, did you just swap them for the 73-76 arms or did you have a trick for them as well? Sorry about all the questions but I only ask for what I don't know. Thanks for answers that you may give. drucker@sbcglobal.net |

Thanks for answers that : you may give. My comment was that I have "drilled-out" the lower ball joint mounting holes (9 inch drum brake)in order to bolt them onto the early K-H 4 piston Disc Braake spindles. I have never drill-out the control arms. If you are swapping to the later single piston Discs, your lower control arms will work, you will need the correct (later) ball joints and upper A-Arms. DD |

So if I'm correctly understanding you now you say that the 9 inch drum lower contrl arms will bolt on to the 73-76 disc brake balljoints and all I will need to do is swap my upper arms with the 73-76 upper control arms to mate them with the 73-76 disc brake spindels? Thank you for bearing with me. drucker@sbcglobal.net |

Yes,you are now understanding it correctly.....early lower arm, later lower ball joint, later upper and ball joint, disc spindle, rotor, and caliper brkt. Roger GTS225@aol.com |

If in doubt and you need some 73-76 part numbers to verify, you can go over to slantsix.com and look up a long post I submitted that had all the part numbers for the disc brake front ends from the 1976 Parts catalog.... that should clear a lot of things up (or give you some invaluable junkyard reference material). -D.Idiot res0aus2@verizon.net |
