| Post subject: | Distributor mods?? |
Looking to build spark scatterer for warm street/mild strip action.(I know...that's a compromise) I do plan on using the HEI conversion. Have '74 vintage electronic apart on bench. Looking for suggested mods to internals while I put it together, maybe diagrams/pics? Went back and checked previous posts, found no. for adjustable vac. adv. The hardest thing is to get the primary (stock) light spring adjusted to start the mechanical advance right off idle. (find a good idle speed to work from) Another issue is the "advance stop plate" or slotted plate the weights move in. Most performance SL6 timing curves need less mechanical advance (shorter slots) so you can run more initial timing and still keep the total around 28 to 32 degrees. Dialing-in a good distributor advance curve takes a lot of trial and error time. DD Distributor Advance Curve Adjustment. |
