Hey Guys:

My dear 86 year old cousin Josie called tonight to inform me that her (original owner) 63 Valiant daily driver has blown its engine. I need help finding a reputable and reasonably priced way of getting a new 225 installed into her car.

Anyone have a rebuilt or good used engine down in the Bay area?...or perhaps a reputable shop that could handle a reasonable price stock replacement engine?

Her engine seems to have a hole in the block.

Gearhead aka Karl

You can try calling rebuilders and the like, or hit a pick your part wrecker. The rebuilders may let one go cheeper though, sence people just don't want this engine

Yep, go get Bill Haigh's engine, see here. Bill's a very capable engine builder and if I needed an engine and was in his vicinity.

Thanks Guys,

I'll contact Bill...However, his engine is a 69, won't that cause a problem bolting up the torque converter because of the larger crank flange?

Karl

No problem. Use the 69 flexplate and a reducer adapter in the end of the crank. The reducer is available from a couple of sources, or easily made.
