| Post subject: | Tranny Options? |
Howdy all, I was wondering what options are available in the way of trannies for my '69 A108? It has an A945? - If I am remembering that correctly! (the gray cells are getting old and tired!) 3 on the tree. Anyway, it's ready for a new clutch... and I was wondering if I had other "better" options available to me. Thanks for any suggestions and help, Talk at ya later, Dan gramma@dm-tech.net |

Dan, I do not have much "hands-on" time with the Vans & Trucks but here is a question, does your 69 A108 tranny "hang" (mount) from the top of the tail housing, from a big bushed "eyelet" cast into the tailhousing? Or does the rear tranny mount / crossmember run under the tranny's tailshaft? Take a look and let us know? DD Quote:

Yea Doc - it's a hanger! Didn't need to go look. I can't remember if it's an A945 or it's A745 Would have to go out there and climb under it for that one. I do know it's a non-synchro unit though. I have to double clutch it to keep the grinding to a minimum between 2nd & 3rd and a complete stop to get it into 1st. Hope this helps, Thanks and talk at ya later, Dan gramma@dm-tech.net |
